Katpana Cold Desert – Blessed only to Pakistan!

The geographical significance of Pakistan is extolled across the world due to the most diverse natural beauty and rich resources. The Katpana cold desert (also called “Katpana Biana” in the local language ) in this context holds top priority.

The world’s highest cold desert (Katpana Desert) lies in the heart of Skardu, north of Pakistan. The idiosyncratic landscape of Katpana’s cold desert crouches everyone. The elevation of 2,226 meters above sea level triggers the peculiarity of this desert. The Blackish grey rocky mountains of the Himalayas and Karakoram, suburbs, and bushes surround the stunning desert.

Sand deserts in Skardu

Antithetical to common features of deserts, It gives goosebumps to the people through its white granules of sand that mark the desert as the only wonder on earth. The weather here follows the pattern of wilderness. Its enthralling cold night and white granules of sand make its visitors crazy and ecstatic.

The temperature during October remains at an average of 8 to 26 degrees Celsius, while from December to January the temperature of the Katpana desert falls to -10 degrees Celcius. The temperature however sometimes decreases to extremely low as –25, making it the wonder and miraculous place to visit in Pakistan.
